UNC Aquatics is looking to hire Summer/Fall 2008 Lifeguards and Swim Instructors.

Student Employment 

UNC-CH Aquatics is always recruiting MOTIVATED and DEPENDABLE students to add to its staff.  Positions available to UNC-CH students are lifeguard, head lifeguard, and swim instructor.

Working within the UNC-CH Aquatics Department is a great way to maintain your skills, meet interesting people, earn money, and have fun.  Students who are interested in applying for a position should attend one of the interest meetings where they will be able to pick up an application. The application should be completed with attached copies of certifications and returned to the Aquatics Director. The Aquatics Department hires every semester (usually) but please call to get more detailed information.

Lifeguard: Must have current American Red Cross or YMCA certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. Great lifesaving skills, attitude and customer service required. 5-10 hours per week during the school year. Varied hours.

Swim Instructor: American Red Cross or YMCA Water Safety Instructor's certification preferred. Must have current CPR Certification at time of hire or willingness to enroll.  Responsible for teaching the Children and Adult swim lessons under the direction of the Aquatics Director. Must have knowledge of and ability to transfer the principles and methods used in teaching swimming. Ability to work well with others. Must be patient. Excellent customer service skills required.  Varied hours.

Head Lifeguard: This position is promoted from within the Aquatics Staff.  Interested lifeguards must have current certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid, as well as demonstrate great leadership skills, organization, attitude and customer service.  The Head Lifeguard supervises the lifeguard staff under the direction of the Aquatics Director.  A summer position requiring 30-40 hours per week.
