Eligibility & Guest Policies

A current UNC ONE-Card or Gym & Pool Privilege Card must be presented to a UNC lifeguard at time of admittance.  The patron can then take the card or leave it with the UNC lifeguard to be retrieved when done swimming.  The Department of EXSS is not responsible for lost or stolen cards.

Student Eligibility

• All full time, fee-paying students are eligible to use the pool facilities

• Continuing Education students must purchase a Gym & Pool Privilege Card to become eligible

• Graduate and professional school students are eligible if they are deemed full time by their school or department and pay student fees. 

• Summer students must be enrolled to be eligible for summer recreation swim, or if registered for the previous spring semester as well as the upcoming fall semester, they may purchase a summer Gym & Pool Privilege Card.  
   

Employee/Spouse/Children Eligibility

Members of the UNC-CH faculty/staff and spouses of students or employees may purchase a Gym & Pool Privilege Card. The Gym & Pool Privilege Card must be presented to a UNC lifeguard at time of admittance.  The patron can then take the card or leave it with the UNC lifeguard to be retrieved when done swimming.  The Department of EXSS is not responsible for lost or stolen cards.

Dependent children (under the age of 18 and living at home) are eligible to participate in recreational swimming during family swim hours, as well as announced family programs.  Children between the ages of 1 and 18 must have a valid Gym & Pool Privilege Card.  Infants under the age of 1 years old does not need a card, but must be accompanied by an adult with Gym/Pool Privileges.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Young children who are at risk of having an accident must wear "swim diapers."

Steps to Acquiring Pool & Gym Privileges:

1. Verify eligibility (Check here to see if you are eligible).

2. Present payment and proper documentation at the UNC One Card Office, which is located on the ground floor Daniels Building (UNC Student Stores).  School Year Hours 7:30am - 5:30pm, M-F.  Summer and University Break Hours: 7:30-5:00pm, M-F.

Fees:

• Annual Payment for privilege (August 1-July 31)
  Adult - $120.00
  Child - $24.00 (pool privileges only)

• Prorated January 1^st
  Adult - $60.00
  Child - $20.00  (pool privileges only)

• Prorated after Commencement
  Adult - $30.00
  Child - $15.00 (pool privileges only)
