Classes and Lessons

Lifeguard Training and CPR certification

 

UNC Aquatics offers quality Lifeguard and CPR instruction for based on the American Red Cross Program. Classes are taught by experienced instructors and maintain a low instructor to participant ratio.

For additional information on any of these classes, stop by the UNC Aquatics Office at 110 Bowman Gray Pool or call 962-2268. 

 

Only UNC affiliated persons are eligible.  All participants must have current Gym and Pool Privileges (check Eligibility for details on obtaining privileges)

LIFEGUARD TRAINING COURSE

Provides entry-level lifeguard candidates with the skills and knowledge to keep patrons of aquatics facilities safe in and around the water.  Includes CPR-PR and First Aid.

SCHEDULE: 

 

 

FEE:  $135.00

 

ELIGIBILITY:

            - Must be at least 15 yrs old on or before the last scheduled class

            - Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl and breaststroke

            - Must retrieve a 10 lb diving brick from a depth of 10ft and swim 20 yards with it 

LIFEGUARD TRAINING CHALLENGE COURSE

Provides an opportunity for currently certified lifeguards, as well as non-certified candidates to update their certifications (LGT/FA and CPR-PR) by challenging the written and skills components of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course.

The participant will be required to pass a written test and a skills test for each component. There will be minor review  for water and CPR skills. If you do not pass the challenge the cost of the challenge is NOT applied toward the cost of a class.

FEE:  $70.00

ELIGIBILITY:

            - Must be at least 15 years old on or before the scheduled class  

CPR for the PROFESSIONAL RESCUER REVIEW COURSE

Provides CPR training for the professional rescuer.  Previous training in CPR required though it need not be current.  This course will provide the new CPRPR skills released in 2006.

FEE:  $40.00

 

ELIGIBILITY:

            - Must have had previous CPR-PR certification

CPR for the PROFESSIONAL RESCUER CHALLENGE COURSE

Provides an opportunity for those currently certified in CPR-PR, as well as non-certified candidates to update their certifications by challenging the written and skills components of the American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer course.

The participant will be required to pass a written test and a skills test for each component.  There will be minor review  for CPR skills. If you do not pass the challenge the cost of the challenge is NOT applied toward the cost of a class.

SCHEDULE: 

       Registration will open in January.

FEE:  $25.00
